DALLAS, Aug. 14, 2017 – Kirk Cameron, popular television and film star, today announced the launch of a new online course on marriage and parenting titled "The Heart of Family: Six Weeks to a Happier Home and a Healthier Family." The project, presented by TheCourage, is Cameron's first official collaboration with his wife Chelsea and provides the faith-based foundations necessary to build a strong, intentional marriage and family that can weather life's tough times.
"Chelsea and I have been married for 25 years, which in Hollywood years, is more like 250," said Cameron, who also has six children. "Through this course, we're doing something we've never done before. We want to open our lives and open the door to our marriage, our family, our faith and our convictions. We want to share where we've struggled and what's helped us. We want to share the principles that strengthened us as a couple and as a family."
According to the CDC, the United States averages one divorce about every 38 seconds.Forty-three percent of children are growing up without a father, and studies show children of divorce suffer academically, mentally and physically. Through this new course, the Camerons hope to restore and revive Christian marriages by helping couples put God at the center. They also want to share the secrets that have allowed them to navigate raising six children in today's culture.
The first episode of "The Heart of Family" will launch on August 21, with one lesson and corresponding study guide released each week thereafter. Lessons are delivered digitally and can be completed at one's own pace. During the final week of the course, Cameron will host a live Q&A with participants.
The lessons include:
- What is marriage?
- Resolving conflict
- Forgiveness
- Godly parenting
- Disciplining your kids
·
"Through this course, we hope to show couples how we got out of wilderness living into a place of hope, healing and blessing," said Cameron. "Strong marriages will not only change our families, but the whole world. Heaven starts in the home and flows out from there."
"The Heart of Family" is the first course offered from TheCourage, Cameron's new digital platform offering inspiring, encouraging and challenging content for Christians in the areas of faith, family and culture. It's a co-venture with Red Seat Ventures, which specializes in building digital businesses with well-known talents from film, radio, and television.
