Many retail stores are small stores with only a skeleton
crew. This means that there are only so
many hours in a day and this skeleton crew is expected to cashier, put up
stock, process returned merchandise, attend training, help customers find
things, clean the store (including restrooms), check in merchandise, as well as
deal with vendors.
These employees simply do not have the time to concentrate
on any one display or line of merchandise.
Companies will often hire merchandisers to visit retail
outlets and work their displays.
Sometimes it is as simple as visiting their store and making sure that a
display has all the product on it that it is supposed to have.
One battery company paid us, through a third party, to visit
a store and blow up balloons. This is
great work if you can get it. We were to
locate the uninflated balloons and make sure that balloons for upcoming events
were on display.
Numerus prepaid telephone companies paid us to go to retail
stores and organize their displays. We
would set the display to the proper plan (Plan-O-Gram) and then count the
merchandise. It was a very easy task.
