Things are going well. Please continue to spread the word. Many of you have responded with prayers and there have been some sizeable donations. Thank you for all that each of you is doing to help in this situation.
If you have not already done so, if you would please, share this message on all of your social media.
To recap, Suzanne is 51 years old and cannot work outside of the home because she has to stay home to take care of me since I am legally blind and have had three strokes. I am a brittle diabetic.
Suzanne also has COPD, arthritis, and some complications from a previous surgery that we are prohibited by court order to discuss.
She is our only driver. She went for an eye exam and was told she has cataracts in both eyes and needs surgery. We have no insurance for her and have tried everything we know to find insurance.
Insurance through the Affordable Care Act would cost us $3,000+ with an annual co-pay of $6,000. She does not qualify for Medicaid or Indigent Care. We have called 211 Texas and they have nothing to offer her. In short, we are going to have to pay out of pocket for this and any related expenses.
We have set up a GoFundMe account to try to raise money towards these expenses. We really do not know how much we will need to fund this. The figures given us came from a “Best Guess” given by the medical providers along the way.
Each month, we receive $1,221 from social security disability (SSDI). We will get a raise to $1,225 per month starting January 2017. Each month, we get $99 in food stamps (SNAP). We will get a decrease starting 15 December 2016 because of the increase to the SSDI.
We need your prayers first and foremost. If you know of any programs out there that could help, please let us know.
If you can contribute, anything at all, please do so with our gratitude and thanks.
Regards in Christ,
David E. McClendon, Sr.
