Texit : Why and How Texas Will Leave the Union by Daniel Miller ISBN: 9781948035026

By now you know that, just like the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America says, it has become necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which connect us to the United States of America.

We just finished reading a media copy of the book Texit: Why and How Texas Will Leave the Union by Daniel Miller.  This book will be available 21 April 2018.

We have to say that Miller answers most, if not all, of the questions we had regarding what will happen when we Texans decide to vote to leave the union of states. Not “IF”, “WHEN”.

Texit is very well-written and very well-researched.  Miller is right there in the middle of the debate and has heard the inevitable questions that one asks themselves regarding Texit and how it will work.

No matter which side, if either, of the issue of Texit one falls on, they owe it to themselves to read this book to learn more about what is going on in Texas.

Texit is easy to read and well thought out.  It is a good source for talking points and answers a lot of the questions of why?  

Most Texans would love to have the Ten Commandments back on the court house grounds.  We could put them back after a Texit.

We were told we had to allow TSA agents to pat us down and take liberties no one should take with any other person.  We actually proposed a law here in Texas that made it illegal for strip searches and pat downs by TSA. The U. S. government then informed us there would be no flights into or out of Texas if that law were passed. I am really surprised we didn’t pass it anyway.

There are so many reasons for Texas to leave the union and no good reasons to stay.  No matter what you believe on the issue of Texit, you need to buy yourself a copy of Texit.

Resilience: The Science of Mastering Life's Greatest Challenges 2nd Edition by Steven Southwick and Dennis Charney ISBN: 9781108441667

By now most of our readers are well aware that we have read and reviewed many books on psychology.  Perhaps one could say we are amateur psychologists.


This book is a fairly easy read like many pop psych books, but it is loaded with information like a psychology textbook.  It is kind of the best of both worlds.

Resilience is very well-referenced. The book references scores of peer-reviewed articles, as well as books and interviews. We give it all five stars.

If you are interested in why some people break during or after a traumatic event and others don’t, you may find Resilience to be insightful.  We think this would make a great resource for psychology classes that deal in PTSD and other conditions.

When Howard Shifke discovered he had Parkinson’s Disease, he decided that since the only tools Western medicine has in its toolbox are chemical drugs, he needed to find himself a new toolbox.

He began to research alternatives and, finding very little, he decided to create his own tool box.

Fighting Parkinson's...and Winning: A memoir of my recovery from Parkinson's Disease by Howard Shifke is a detailed account of what he did and how he did it, to BEAT PARKINSON’S DISEASE.

He also explains in great detail about the development of his website called fightingparkinsonsdrugfree.com.

This book is very well-written and explains what he did, and why he did it.  He includes a description of the exercises he did.


Using the methods described by Shifke is a lot like eating chicken soup when you have a cold.  It couldn’t hurt you and it will probably make you feel better.

The people at Robert Rose continue to bat them out of the park with their great recipe books.  The Gluten-Free Baking Book: 250 Small-Batch Recipes for Everything from Brownies to Cheesecake by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt is another grand slam home run for them.

This baking book has many great color photos and is really not just a recipe book, but is more of a mini course in baking and, in this case, gluten-free baking.

The recipes are amazing and easy to follow.  There are step-by-step instructions for making small batches of gluten free recipes, including many desserts.

We do think that this book should be read along with Eat Wheat by John Douillard. The combination would be awesome and very instructive for those with celiac disease, and those who love them.
